Rep. Lee Zeldin drops out of running for RNC Chair

Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) announced on Twitter this morning that he no longer intends to run for Chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Zeldin polled several State GOP representatives to gauge their vote. The result of which, he says, would not be in his favor should current Chair Ronna McDaniel decide to run for reelection.

Local Party officials we spoke with are disappointed to learn of Lee’s decision, adding they have long been dissatisfied with Ronna McDaniel; her failure to work with grassroots GOP leadership citing disorganization. Some raise questions about where and how funds are allocated.
